The Governing Body of Principals is responsible for the delivery of the work of SINAPSE and is accountable to SFC. The key functions are: looking after the investment, ensuring appropriate financial management of SINAPSE; maximizing scientific output and excellence; nurturing the future generations of imagers; ensuring external visibility of SINAPSE; considering the strategic direction of SINAPSE; securing further investment; ensuring long-term sustainability; ensuring compliance of SINAPSE to its aims, objectives and its framework of governance.

- Professor Sir John Savill, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Medicine and Veterinary, University of Edinburgh
- Professor David Barlow, Executive Dean of Medicine, University of Glasgow

- Professor Irene Leigh, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, University of Dundee
