Details of technical facilities by speciality, across all the universities.
We have four major MRI research centres, based at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. They incorporate a range of MRI systems including:
- 3T Philips Achieva, 1.5T GE CVi/NVi and a 0.6T Fonar positional (Aberdeen)
- 1.5T Siemens and 3T Siemens Trio (Dundee)
- 1.5T GE and 3T Siemens Verio (Edinburgh)
- 1.5T and 3T MRI GE systems (Glasgow)
We have four molecular imaging research centres, based at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow:
- Cyclotron, Radiochemistry labs, PET/CT, Preclinical PET/CT and clinical SPECT (Aberdeen)
- PET/CT and clinical SPECT (Dundee)
- Cyclotron, Radiochemistry labs, PET/CT, Preclinical PET/CT and clinical SPECT (Edinburgh)
- Cyclotron, Radiochemistry labs, PET/CT, preclinical SPECT and clinical SPECT, including a high performance neuroSPECT (Glasgow)
- 64-channel (Neuroscan) and two 32-channel (Biosemi Active Two) EEG/EKG systems, one of the latter being dedicated to infant research, workstations for data analysis using a range of software packages (e.g. Brainvision, EEG-lab) (Dundee)
- 72-channel Biosemi Active-Two Amplifier. ERTS is used for stimulus presentation and BESA, EEGlab, and Konstanz-Format software are all available for analysis (St. Andrews)
- three 64-channel (Neuroscan and Contact Precision) EEG recording systems, with allied behavioural testing suites (primarily using Eprime), electrode digitisation equipment and a set of ERP data processing and analysis work-stations (including Neuroscan and in-house software) (Stirling)
- EEG and ERP (Aberdeen)
All our Imaging Centres have been equipped with fMRI compatible EEG from the same manufacturer. This facilitates comparison of data from multi-centre research trials.
