Small Vessel Disease (SVD) causes a quarter of strokes and up to 45% of dementias. It is also a major risk factor for future stroke, dementia and depression.

This event will launch a network for researchers in Edinburgh with an interest in SVD and related disorders. We aim to build on communication, establish new collaborations, foster career development and cement Edinburgh’s position at the forefront of this field.

University of Edinburgh staff are invited to join us for our network launch day. A morning of talks will highlight the range of research on SVD by University groups. This will be followed by an afternoon of short talks and networking aimed at all postdocs, PhD students and junior PIs working on SVD and related disorders to launch our SVD Research Academy – a network intended to support the new generation of researchers in this field. The event will end with a drinks reception.
