ERASMUS Course on Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Basic MRI Physics – 19th to 23rd September, 2022

NHS Tayside Medical Physics (University of Dundee), United Kingdom

Course Objectives:

This one-week module is part of the ERASMUS Course (EMRI) on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) which will provide delegates with a sound understanding of the basic physical principles that underpin MRI.  The course format includes formal lectures accompanied by supervised tutorial Q/A sessions on MR physics – covering everything from basic NMR, T1 and T2, through to advanced neuro, body and cardiovascular applications.  No previous knowledge of MR physics is assumed.  A certificate of attainment will be awarded to successful candidates, and 25 CME credits will be applied for.  An attendee limit of n=25 delegates is proposed in order to optimise focussed learning (including one-to-one tutorial discussions with members of the faculty) and social networking.  Delegates typically attend from a variety of disciplines, including Clinical Radiology, Medical Physics, Radiography and also staff/students from clinical or scientific university departments.

Catering and Meals:

Tea, coffee and lunches will be provided on a daily basis during the course.  Special dietary requirements must be requested in advance; however a vegetarian option will be available each day.  In addition, a welcome drinks reception will be held on Monday 19th September 2022 and a course social dinner will be held on Wednesday 21st September 2022.  All of the described events are fully included within the registration fee.

Venue:

Best Western Queens Hotel, 160 Nethergate, Dundee DD1 4DU, UK.  Registration will be from 09:00-10:00 on Monday 19th September 2022 at the hotel venue.

Travel:

Central Dundee is convenient for transport links including bus and train, and Dundee also hosts a small airport where direct flights are currently available to/from London City and Belfast.  Many airlines also provide international flights from Europe to Edinburgh and Glasgow where onward road and rail connections are available to Dundee.  By rail there is also a regular service from London Kings Cross which is adjacent to the Eurostar terminus at London St Pancras.

Course Fees (Includes Course Materials, Lunches, Breaks and Social Programme):

Non-students – £500 if registered before 31st May 2022 or £600 thereafter.  Certified students (those in full-time education, accompanied by an official signed letter of confirmation from their Institution) – £400 if registered before 31st May 2022 or £450 thereafter.  Payment in Pounds sterling is required by credit/debit card.  Accommodation is not included – delegates will be responsible for making their own housing arrangements.  However discounted rates will be offered by Dundee and Angus Convention Bureau.
