Brain health index from MRI scans predicts cognitive function after stroke

April 2018 - Brain health index from MRI scans predicts cognitive function after stroke

SINAPSE scientists from the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh have developed an automated image analysis method, combining MRI measures of brain atrophy and small vessel disease to produce a single 'brain health index' measure, that reliably predicts cognitive function in stroke patients at one year post-stroke.

The study, published in the International Journal of Stroke, has received press coverage from sources including The Scotsman, Daily Express, The Sun, and ScienceDaily. Dr David Alexander Dickie was interviewed about the study on the BBC Radio Scotland programme 'Good Morning Scotland', which can be heard here (at 55:02).
