SINAPSE experts from around Scotland have developed ten online modules designed to explain medical imaging. They are freely available and are intended for non-specialists.


Edinburgh Imaging Academy at the University of Edinburgh offers the following online programmes through a virtual learning environment:

Carnegie Vacation Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

Scholarships available for Scottish students undertaking an undergraduate degree course at a Scottish university, in support of research projects during Summer 2017.

Carnegie Vacation Scholarships support undergraduate research projects in any subject or area and are a great stepping stone for postgraduate studies.

  • To be eligible, students must be of Scottish birth or descent, or have attended a Scottish secondary school for at least two years prior to starting university.
  • Applicants must be undergraduates of a Scottish university, on track to achieve a First or upper second class degree, in either
    • year 3 of a 4 year degree (or an equivalent stage for part-time students) OR
    • year 3 or 4 of a 5 year degree (or an equivalent stage for part-time students).
  • Projects can be undertaken at a Scottish university or anywhere else in the world.
  • Applications must be supported by an academic at a Scottish university who agrees to act as a supervisor during the project.
