Imaging Team of the Year nomination for Edinburgh

Edinburgh Imaging's CT team and SCOT-HEART trial shortlisted for BMJ Awards 'Imaging Team of the Year'

The BMJ Awards, now in their 9th year, are the UK's leading medical awards. They recognise and celebrate the inspirational work of healthcare teams across the country.

Many congratulations to Edinburgh Imaging's CT team and the Scot-Heart study team, who have been shortlisted as one of the nominations for the Imaging Team of the Year, in connection to the SCOT-HEART trial. This was a pivotal study across a number of Scottish hospitals, leading to the clinical application of cardiac CT in chest pain and an update of the relevant NICE guidelines.

An outstanding team from the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian coordinated relevant staff training, the performance of the thousands of CT coronary angiograms, the conduct of the study, the analysis of the data and all that supported this important study, the results of which were published in The Lancet.

Well done to Edinburgh Imaging for this recognition! Together with a University of Edinburgh research paper from the OPPTIMUM study, they are the only institution or health board nominated from Scotland. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 4th May 2017 in London.
