The EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) funded a working group on vascular contributions to neurodegeneration organised by Professor Joanna Wardlaw, which brought together 55 international experts in brain vessel diseases and dementia to survey the data from more than 90 cohort studies, representing more than 660,000 participants.

The working group’s final paper was recently published in the journal Alzheimer’s & Dementia as an open-access perspective article, summarising the results and recommendations from this initiative.  Professor Wardlaw’s involvement was supported by PEER (Pools Engagement in European Research) funding awarded by SINAPSE.
