We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Clinical Research Fellow in Cardiology and Clinical Research within the Division of Molecular and Clinical Medicine and the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) at University of Dundee, supervised by Prof Chim Lang and Prof Sally Ibbotson. The post is full-time for 24 months in the first instance. The start date for the post is 1st April 2020.

The University of Dundee is part of a large European consortium that has been awarded a European Union Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) grant worth over £12 million to further our understanding of diabetic cardiomyopathy [CARDIATEAM]. Dundee has a key role in the consortium, leading one of the work packages on associations of diabetic retinopathy and advanced retinal imaging and diabetic cardiomyopathy.

The Research Fellow will co-ordinate the recruitment of 200 patients, conducting echocardiography, supervising cardiac MRI scanning and working with colleagues in the School of Computing to analyse retinal images. This substantial project will lead to papers in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at national and international conferences, and will form the basis for an MD thesis. The post is funded 50:50 between cardiology research and the activities of clinical trial delivery across a range of specialties in the CRC, within the umbrella of the Tayside medical Science Centre (TASC).
