Courtesy of Dr Jonathan Weir-McCall and Prof Graeme Houston, this image illustrates the use of whole body magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in clinical imaging. Atherosclerosis is a systemic disorder affecting the entire body, yet typically imaging focusses on specific arterial territories. Whole body MRA allows the systematic quantification of the extent of atheromatous disease within the arteries of the entire body in a single examination.
