ImaGin

ImaGin

A bespoke Scottish craft gin to support imaging research in Scotland

SINAPSE has partnered with Strathearn Distillery to create ImaGin, a specially crafted gin distilled with botanicals inspired by imaging. Cranberries and watercress are natural sources of iodine, an element used in imaging methods such as CT (to enhance contrast) and PET (to locate areas of molecular activity). These iodine-rich botanicals are responsible for the unique sweet and peppery notes of ImaGin.

The label features an image of a cranberry scanned at 0.2 mm resolution on a 7 Tesla MRI system (credit: Prof David Porter, Tracey Hopkins, Dr Kristin Flegal) and processed for volume rendering (credit: Dr David Alexander Dickie).
