This is an opportunity to make a leading contribution to a Versus Arthritis funded project entitled ‘Probing the Rheumatoid Arthritis Brain to Expose Central Pain Pathways’. Working with Dr Neil Basu [Principal Investigator] in the Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation and in collaboration with Prof Gregor Thut from the Institute of Neuroscience & Psychology, the postholder will undertake research to investigate how pain is neurally processed in Rheumatoid Arthritis. This will involve delivering an experimental medicine study of patients who undertake transcranial magnetic stimulation of the brain and subsequent evaluation employing ultra-high resolution MRI scanning.
