This is an exciting opportunity for Clinical Research Fellows, trained in medicine or allied health professions (such as psychology, radiography, nursing, therapy professionals), to work towards a PhD in the University of Edinburgh.
Funded by the Alzheimer’s Society and the University of Edinburgh, the selected fellows will choose one of four PhD projects in vascular contributions to dementia, in neuro-imaging, laboratory-based science including neuropathology or big data/clinical epidemiology. The posts are available from late summer/early autumn 2019 for 3 years.
There is a shortage of researchers trained in both abnormal brain blood vessels (traditionally ‘stroke’ researchers) and dementia (traditionally ‘dementia’ researchers). The fellows will be part of a partnership between supervisors from ‘stroke’ backgrounds and from ‘dementia’ backgrounds in a University where both are strong. There is major expertise in small vessel diseases, to bridge this divide.
