The PET Radiopharmaceutical Production Unit is a recently licensed facility comprising cyclotron, clean rooms and associated support areas. The unit provides a PET radiopharmaceutical service for two adjacent PET/CT scanners. Radiopharmaceuticals are prepared and dispensed under aseptic conditions, using automated chemistry synthesis units, to full GMP standard. The PET RPU operates under a ‘manufacturing specials’ licence granted by the MHRA. This post provides technical support in the delivery of PET radiopharmaceuticals allowing this specialist service to operate smoothly, safely and efficiently on a day to day basis.

The post holder will be expected to participate in a production rota which involves early starts (04.30-14.30). You will have a Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in one of the following areas: Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or Physics. However, other appropriate disciplines and qualifications will be considered provided there is an equivalent profile of knowledge, training and experience. Registration in the Voluntary Registers for Clinical Technologists held by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) or for Pharmacy Technicians held by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain is desirable. Experience of working in a GMP environment is desirable as is experience of handling radioactive materials.
